Fred Gordon Thelander, 76, of North Aurora, a retired attorney, died Friday, Jan. 24, in Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora, of heart failure. Born in Batavia, Mr. Thelander grew up in a family of eight children. He was a member of the Shrine and Jerusalem Temple Lodge 90 AF & AM, and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was a graduate of Aurora College and Indiana University School of Law. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and licensed to practice before the Supreme Courts of Indiana and Illinois, as well as numerous federal courts and agencies. Mr. Thelander was also a patent attorney and at one time acted as office counsel for Chicago Title & Trust Co. He is survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Yurs-Peterson-Moss Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
