Your article “Salt peppers streets, lives–be thankful” (Page 1, Jan. 29) comments that rural residents learn to drive on snow-pack. In a city, heavy traffic quickly turns snow-pack into ice-pack. At intersections, with numerous vehicles stopping and starting, this then becomes glare ice, better suited for skating than for driving.
