I would like to address the peace protesters. I am a veteran of the United States Air Force and I served my country for eight years to protect our Constitution. One of the rights that I fought to protect was the right to protest. I am so happy and so lucky to live in this country where people can stand up and voice opinions.
But I have a few tips for the protesters:
– Your right to protest should not infringe upon other citizens’ rights. The peace protesters recently caused quite a disruption to the City of Chicago and the citizens. Standing on police cars and destroying public property is a very good way to infuriate the public and make people less likely to support your cause.
– If you are going to protest, know the issues. This is not a war for oil. This is not a racist war. It is a war to remove a ruthless tyrant from power.
– If you are protesting for peace, do not throw bottles or rocks at the police. That negates your peace message.
– Don’t expect everyone to come to your side of the argument and do not verbally attack the war supporters.
– Support the troops. They have a job to do and need to know that you might oppose the war, but you admire and respect the job that they are doing.
