Borrowing from Chicago’s “Cows on Parade,” Wilmette artists will decorate 25 wooden benches with whimsical designs and display them around town this summer before auctioning them off for charity.
The Woman’s Club of Wilmette is organizing the “Benches to Benefit” campaign, which will begin July 12.
“Some of the artists’ proposals were absolutely incredible, very imaginative,” said Karen Donnan, the club’s auxiliary co-president. “We have florals; we have mosaic.”
Proceeds from an Oct. 4 auction will benefit Family Service Center of Wilmette, Warming House and Youth Connections.
