– The Midnight Run, sponsored by the Jerseypine Cruisers Motorcycle Club, starts with registration at 5 p.m. July 12 at Maryville Academy, Central and River Roads, Des Plaines. The event will include a bike show, vendors and a raffle, the proceeds of which will benefit Maryville Academy. Fees for the run are $10 per bike and $5 per passenger. – The American Solar Challenge will begin with a staggered start at 9 a.m. July 13 at the Museum of Science and Industry. In the event, held every two years, 30 solar-powered cars built by university teams race 2,300 miles in 10 days from Chicago to Claremont, Calif., along the path of Route 66.
– Race cars of the World War II era will be on display July 12 and 13 at the Milwaukee Mile racetrack. The Harry A. Miller Club, founded to honor the car designer, is sponsoring the 9th annual Millers at Milwaukee–Vintage Indy Car Event. Gates open at 8 a.m. both days, with cars running on the track from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 12 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13. Spectator passes cost $25 for a pit pass or $5 for an infield pass.
