The Pilsen neighborhood is no stranger to gang violence, nor to the dangers faced by people who try to fight it.
Two years ago, Officer Brian T. Strouse, 33, was shot to death while on a stakeout there. Strouse, a Gulf War veteran, was working to make safer an area blighted by gang warfare and gunfire.
At 5:15 p.m. Sunday, the Resurrection Project Block Club invites people to 1341 W. 18th Pl., near where Strouse died, to remember him. Strouse’s sister, Paula, and Ald. Daniel Solis (25th) will speak.
