I wish I were more like those men who went Dutch on those dates (“Going Dutch,” July 10).
As a male who has picked up the check even while enduring boorish women, I have wished, in retrospect, that I had actually walked out during those dates. I wish that I had excused myself to go to the bathroom, while just walking out the door.
I dated one woman who repeatedly insulted the waitress. But I did nothing. I felt so bad for her–actually for both of them. The worst part of dating that witch was that I picked up the checks even though she made three times as much as me. Maybe I should have paid her rent as well. In any case, that date was the last time I ever saw her. I guess she dates to get the free food.
