As a Cincinnati native, I was excited to see Don Pierson’s assessment of the AFC North in Tuesday’s Tribune. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. Mr. Pierson lists Akili Smith and Gus Frerotte as key losses?
There is no one on this planet who believes either of those individuals contributed anything to the team. The Bengals are better for not having Smith as a distraction.
Second, there is not one fan in Cincinnati pushing to have the Bengals play Carson Palmer. Everyone has understood from Day 1 that Jon Kitna is starting and Palmer is going to learn from the sidelines.
