A grand jury said Friday it found no criminal wrongdoing in the Houston police crime lab, which has come under scrutiny since an audit revealed problems with its DNA testing.

The grand jury said the knowledge of problems at the lab and lack of action to correct them did not constitute criminal negligence.

Harris County prosecutor Chuck Rosenthal said the grand jury turned over the materials it reviewed to his office and his staff might still file charges. Police spokesman John Leggio declined to comment Friday.
