1. Scott McBrien
The senior southpaw quarterback, who was the 2002 Peach Bowl MVP, hit 57 percent of his passes last year (162-of-284) for 2,497 yards and 15 touchdowns. The transfer from West Virginia was 12th in the nation in passing efficiency.
2. Latrez Harrison
The former quarterback turned wide receiver might be the Terps’ best athlete, and with his size (6-3, 225), he can overpower smaller defensive backs. He averaged 18.5 yards per catch last year as a junior.
3. Leon Joe
Now that two-time All-American E.J. Henderson has graduated, the senior linebacker will be the focal point of the defense. He had 103 tackles last year, including 74 solo.
4. Madieu Williams
The senior is one of the top safeties in the country. After transferring from Towson State, he had 61 solo tackles last year for the Terps with four interceptions.
5. Josh Allen
With starting tailback Bruce Perry out, the powerful sophomore running back with breakaway speed will get most of the work. Last season he rushed 60 times for 407 yards and two touchdowns.
