Linebacker Fred Miller was named Ohio Valley Conference defensive player of the week after making 19 tackles (10 solo) and returning an intercepted pass 32 yards for a touchdown in Saturday’s 21-14 loss to Illinois State. The loss ended Eastern’s 16-game regular-season home winning streak and knocked coach Bob Spoo’s Panthers out of the Division I-AA Top 25 for the first time in 33 weeks. . . . If the Panthers (1-2) win Saturday at Indiana State (2-2), they will tie the series 35-35-3. Tailback Andre Raymond is ranked 20th in the nation with an average of 147.3 all-purpose yards per game. Punter Tom Schofield ranks No. 30 with a 40.1-yard average. . . . Eastern is averaging only 88 yards rushing but 167.7 passing.
