The attorney who is selling the foul ball he ended up with after Steve Bartman made it famous (“Infamous foul ball to pop up at auction,” Metro, Nov. 12) says that he is not profiting at Bartman’s expense. In reality, without the controversy surrounding Bartman, there would be no chance that any significant value would be given to the ball. This attorney is simply trying to benefit from someone else’s misfortune.
The attorney, whose first name is Jim (he did not want his last name published), should do the right thing and give the profits to charity or split them with Bartman.
