J. Porter and Travis Glasford made a strong case for the Leathernecks to receive one of Sunday’s eight at-large bids to the 16-team NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. Porter passed for five touchdowns, and Glasford rushed 230 yards and scored four touchdowns as Western’s potent balanced offense rolled up last week’s 63-42 victory over Southwest Missouri State. Northern Iowa (9-2, 6-1) earned the Gateway Conference’s automatic bid to the playoffs by beating co-champ and playoff-bound Southern Illinois (10-1, 6-1). Western Illinois and Western Kentucky tied for third and fourth at 8-3, 5-2, and the Leathernecks won the game between the two of them.
