I had the privilege of meeting Sen. Paul Simon in Washington while preparing an article on student loans for the University of Illinois’ student magazine.
He was a class act, affording me as a no-name college student the same access and time a nationally known reporter would have had.
Sen. Simon’s goodness, leadership, advice and (very important these days) ability to compromise and develop workable solutions to benefit all Americans will be sorely missed.
