James C. Elliott, age 82 and a 55 year resident of Tinley Park, passed away Dec. 17, he was the beloved husband of Gladys, nee Edwards, Elliott; and the loving father of James (Rosalyn), Scott (Barbara) and Charles (Julie) Elliott. James was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was a retired member of the Carpenters Union. James bravely served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a past president of the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association, Chapter 1 of Illinois. James and his wife led the fund raising campaign for the Pearl Harbor Monument located at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. He also was a member of the Tinley Park V.F.W. Post #2791 for 55 years. James belonged to Gloria Dei Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tinley Park. Visitation Sunday, Dec. 21 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hirsch Memorial Chapel, 7151 W. 183rd St., Tinley Park. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. at Gloria Dei Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18401 S. 66th Avenue, Tinley Park. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 27034 S. Diagonal Road, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in James’ memory to the American Diabetes Assn., 30 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 2015, Chicago, IL 60602.
