With Al Gore’s endorsement, Howard Dean now has an air of inevitability in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination (“Gore implores party to unite behind Dean; Endorsement irks rival candidates,” News, Dec. 10).
Gore has called for all Democrats to unite behind Dean and put a quick end to the primary season.
While Dean is clearly the frontrunner, it seems absurd to crown him as the nominee, weeks before any votes are cast.
I think this is a mistake.
Let true democracy have a chance and let the people make up their own minds and vote for the candidate they think is best.
