One of the few electronic acts able to inject its bleeps and bloops with a sense of humor, the members of Plaid quickly moved
beyond their initial electro project, Black Dog. It’s nice to hear
the duo of Ed Handley and Andy Turner referencing their earlier incarnation on recent releases, and “Spokes” is no exception. A fusion of chilly beats and ingratiating melodies, the disc splits the difference between dance floor fodder and introspection.
