When American troops pulled the haggard Saddam Hussein from his hole, I let out a shout of joy followed by a sigh of relief.
The perseverance of our intelligence community and heroic efforts of the troops overseas need to be applauded.
Although people may disagree over whether the United States unilaterally should have entered Iraq in the first place, it is ignorant and preposterous that one could claim that the capture of Hussein does not make America safer.
Hussein was a brutal tyrant who is not only responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Arabs but also who used chemical weapons on his own citizens.
It is well known that this is also a man who actively was seeking both chemical and biological weapons as well as a nuclear weapon.
Both Iraqis as well as American citizens ought to be relieved that this reign of terror is over.
While we may disagree over how we entered Iraq, the capture of this evil tyrant is a good one.
Politics ought to be abandoned in recognition of this wonderful event. The whole world is safer without Saddam Hussein.
