David John Riordan was born August 31, 1926 in Chicago, IL and passed away on Dec. 27, 2003 in Merced, CA. He was 77. Mr. Riordan was a resident of Merced for 14 years, and served on various Local, State, and National boards, committees, and organizations, including the Merced Planning Commission from January 1996 to January 2002, Merced City Council from January 2002 to November 2003, and was a board member of the CCAP, CARR, and AHHAP. He was also the Executive Director and President of the Community Social Model Advocates, Inc., and was the founder of CSMA, the Rose Julia Riordan “Tranquility Village” and Hobie House. He was the nephew of Sister Davida Riodan R.S.M. and Sister Joel Riordan R.S.M. Mr. Riordan was preceded in death by his wife Rose Riordan; and a son David Riordan. He is survived by his son Kevin Riordan; daughters Linda Riordan Gomez and Michelle Riordan; stepdaughter Kathleen Lynn and stepson Terry Lynn; brother and sister-in-law John and Carmen Riordan; sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Rex Lloyd, Joan and Kenneth Rimkus and Patricia Jensen; grandchildren Nadine Wood, Christopher White, Kevin White, Alexandria Gomez, Raeshelle Kaufman, Robert Erickson, Richard Cheshier, Susanna Kampwirth, Terry Lynn, John Lynn and Jim Lynn; and great-grandchildren Richard Cheshier, Trevor Cheshier, Caitlin Cheshier, Terry Lynn, Sean Kampwirth and Erin Kampwirth. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at 12 noon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Merced District Cemetery. Family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to CSMA, 508 Mendocino Court, Atwater, CA 95301.
