Jack George Brown, President of Rainbo Records, born Jan. 1, 1913, died Dec. 28, 2003 at age 90 following complications of coronary bypass surgery at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica with his family at his side. He is survived by Jeanette, his loving wife of 63 years; and his daughters, Karen, Phyllis and Joyce. He also leaves a sister, Jean Shriebman, and two brothers, Sam (Clarice) Brown and Herman Brown, all of Los Angeles. Active till the end, he swam and worked out at the gym five days a week. With the same vigorous intensity and dedication, he went to work six days a week as he had done since Rainbo’s inception in 1939. His creativity won him patents for the plastic record and fueled such projects as records-ona-box and “talking” magazines. He was inventive, energetic, brilliant, funny and wise. Many were the recipients of his counsel and generosity, from family members to employees to such philanthropies as The Jewish Federation, The Guardians, and the Anti-Defamation League. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 at 12 noon at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 Centinela Ave., Los Angeles, CA. 90045, 800-576-1994. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
