Robert Francis Pearse, born in Detroit, MI, 1916 passed from this life on 12/24/03 at 87. Among his many accomplishments, he was accepted for a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in 1939 although the program was interrupted due to the war. He served in the Army Air Force, affiliated with the ‘Flying Tigers’ in the Pacific theater where he was honorably discharged as a master sergeant in 1945. He obtained a Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago in psychology in 1947, and a PhD in 1950. In the 1950’s he helped pioneer the field of organizational psychology. In the early 1960’s, he became a full professor in the graduate School of Management of Boston University and chaired the Dept. of Behavioral Sciences. He later joined the faculty of Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, and taught until his retirement at age 82. Dr. Pearse is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley; his three children; and five grandchildren.
