The pre-primary special education staff at District 65 received a $900 mini-grant from STARnet Region. Mini-grants are given to public school therapists or teachers who provide services for children ages 3 to 6 who have individual specialized programs.
TOWNSHIP DISTRICT 113
Care packages are being sent to U.S. troops overseas from students at Highland Park High School. Members of the Student Senate and students in Robin Gapinski’s mathematics classes collected about 417 pounds of goods and shipped 75 care packages to six locations in Kosovo, South Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq.
LAKE FOREST
The entrance test for admission to Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart will be given at the school, 760 E. Westleigh Rd., from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The fee is $25. NORTHBROOK, DISTRICT 28
Registration for developmental screening for District 28 preschool children ages 3 to 5 will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the pupil services office at Northbrook Junior High School, 1475 Maple Ave. Registration is required for the screening, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 23 in the administrative offices at the junior high school. The District 28 Board has hired Scott Warren to be principal of Meadowbrook School, effective July 1. Warren will replace Gail Duke, who will retire in June after 13 years as principal.

GLENVIEW, DISTRICT 30
Maple School students and staff collected more than $11,000 worth of toys, games, stuffed animals, blankets and other items that were donated to the Northfield Township Women’s Shelter, the Walter Payton Foundation and shelters in Chicago during the holidays. The Student Council sponsored the effort and helped distribute the items.
SKOKIE, DISTRICT 72
The Finance-Personnel Committee of the District 72 Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the district administrative office, 7040 Laramie Ave. A committee of the whole meeting will follow at 7 p.m.

WILMETTE
Eighth-grade girls may take the Catholic high school placement test at Regina Dominican High School, 701 Locust Rd., at 8 a.m. Saturday. Testing will be held at all other Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago on that day, but those who test at Regina Dominican will be eligible for merit-based scholarships and will receive top consideration in their course selections for next year.
