The Plan Commission has recommended approval of a proposal for an 8-acre commercial development at Army Trail and Kuhn Roads.

The development, which would have 38,000 square feet of building space, would include a restaurant, a retail building and two office buildings, as well as an already approved National City Bank.

Although a big-box retailer had been envisioned, William Shiner, president of Mid-Northern Equities, the developer, said this week that big-box retailers prefer to be closer to malls.

The Village Board will consider the plan Monday.
