About 300 parking violators in Madison, Wis., got a $2,004 shock in the mail recently. Thanks to a computer error, the parking violators received letters from the University of Wisconsin-Madison informing them they owed $2,004 for each past-due ticket. As of Monday, only 50 people had called to question the notices.
