The Glen Ellyn Village Board this week approved plans to build 25 town homes and five single-family houses on one of the last good-sized pieces of vacant property in the village.
Trustees voted 5-1 Monday night to approve plans for the Waters Edge development, which will be on 7.4 wooded acres south of Roosevelt Road and east of Panfish Park.
The project had been in the formal review process since last June. Headed by longtime Glen Ellyn home builder Glen McMaster and Wheaton attorney Henry Stillwell III, developer Pan Fish Venture LLC had scaled the plan back from an original proposal of 33 town homes, although there had been previous efforts to develop the property with town homes and single-family homes in 1996, 1999 and 2002.
Trustee Mark Pfefferman cast the lone dissenting vote on the plan, calling the property “one of the prettiest places in Glen Ellyn.”
Trustee John Mulherin, however, noted that the plan conforms to the village’s comprehensive plan.
The developer agreed to deed to the village 1.37 acres immediately east of Panfish Park in two places, thereby expanding the size of the 19-acre, village-owned park, which has two ponds and a trail.
