Sarah Joyce Barkan, nee Paikoff, 93, died peacefully at home on Feb. 10 surrounded by her family. Cherished wife for 70 years of Dr. Irving Barkan; devoted mother of Paula (Dr. Albert) Madansky, Sherry (Dr. Douglas) Gorin and Joanne Barkan (Jon Friedmar); adored grandmother of Deborah Klawans Fiedler, Rebecca (Rabbi Bradley) Hirschfield, Dr. Jonathan Klawans (Helaine Denenberg), Joshua (Jennifer) Gorin and Jennifer Gorin; loving greatgrandmother of Hadassa, Avigail and Adina Hirschfield, Chase Gorin and Ari Klawans; beloved sister of Roslyn (Bunny) Krinsky; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. A long professional life dedicated to Judaism and Jewish education. Funeral services Friday 10 a.m. at The Piser Chapel, 9200 N. Skokie Blvd. (at Church Street), Skokie. Interment South Side Hebrew Congregation Cemetery/Waldheim, Forest Park.
