Marian C. Sullivan, 88, a real estate agent on Chicago’s Northwest Side who was dedicated to her family, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, of coronary failure after a struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was a lifetime Chicago resident and grew up around the Albany Park area. Mrs. Sullivan worked at a Carson Pirie Scott store before she married. She cared for both of her parents well into their old age. After the death of her husband, Daniel, in 1972, Mrs. Sullivan began selling real estate with her daughter, Mary Kay Ellman. “We used to sell together and compare notes,” her daughter said. “The family would have to tell us to stop talking about real estate.” She would go out of her way to help people, family members said. “If she saw someone walking and carrying groceries, she would often pick them up and drive them to wherever they were going,” her daughter said. Mrs. Sullivan sold real estate until she was 80, when Alzheimer’s disease made it difficult to learn computer skills she needed for the job. Other survivors include two sons, Daniel and Terry; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday in Smith Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday in Queen of All Saints Catholic Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave., Chicago.
