Howard Dean said Sunday he plans to reassess his sputtering campaign as he again vowed to stay in the race for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination–even if he loses Tuesday’s Wisconsin primary.
“We’re going to reassess–we’re going to keep going, no matter what, because I think there are a lot of people all over this country who want to rebuild the party and rebuild America,” Dean told “Fox News Sunday.”
Top aides said Dean was receiving advice from a number of people on how to keep the campaign alive. As one put it, “Everything is on the table.”
Polls show Sen. John Kerry will likely win Tuesday.
Dean was joined Sunday in a debate at Marquette University by Kerry, Sen. John Edwards, Rep. Dennis Kucinich and Rev. Al Sharpton.
In a poll of the debate audience done before and after the event, support for Dean dropped one percentage point, from 18 percent to 17 percent.
