I retired from the Chicago Police Department seven years ago after a fulfilling 31-year career.
I then moved to the great state of Georgia.
I notice that my birth city has won the title of “Murder Capital of the Nation.”
How can this be?
Under Mayor Richard M. Daley’s unreasonable and restrictive gun-control laws, crimes of this nature should be reduced.
In my new adopted state of Georgia, law-abiding citizens are permitted to carry firearms to defend themselves and their families.
And crime here is low, especially compared to the cities of Chicago and Washington, D.C.
If I should return to Illinois carrying a firearm, as I have done during my entire police career, it would be a felony.
Make sense?
It doesn’t make sense to me either.
I am not going back. I feel much safer down here.
