James Alvin Johnsen, 69, passed away at home on February 11 with his loved ones around him. Jim was born March 27, 1934 in Chicago, IL and was a graduate of DePaul Academy and Illinois Institute of Technology. He had a long and successful career at Teletype Corporation and AT&T Bell Laboratories and retired to Fairfield Bay, AR with his wife Judy in 1992. Jim enjoyed contributing to his community, travelling and spending time with his family – he took great joy in his grandchildren. In Illinois, he and his family provided foster care in their home for 25 years and Jim was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, scouting and midget football. He helped many in his Fairfield Bay community as a volunteer First Responder for the Rescue Squad, served for six years on the Fairfield Bay Community Club Board and was an active member of the Fairfield Bay Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Judy; brother Ron Johnsen (Gail); and five children, Matt (Nancy), Jennifer Roennau, Gabrielle (Amy Brantley), Paul (Keri Stika) and Michael (Catalina). He also leaves eight grandchildren: Brandi, Pauli, Timothy, Andrew, Maria, Jimmy, Becca and Alexandria and has been blessed with many wonderful friends. Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Bay Lions Club or the Fairfield Bay Rescue Squad. Memorial services will be held later. www.olmstead.cc
