More than 40 Chicago area women take on the issue of violence against women and girls Wednesday in a benefit performance of the “Vagina Monologues” at Park West.
The performance is part of “V Day,” a day marked by activists around the country who are seeking to reduce violence against women and girls. Chicago’s event will include a voter registration drive and a ceremony honoring several people active in women’s issues, including the coordinator of the Chicago Rape Crisis Hotline, a policy adviser in the state attorney general’s office and a therapist who works with men to prevent them from hurting women.
“V Day” will benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and Southwest Women Working Together, which provides domestic violence services.
