Gerald Walker, an author and editor who wrote the novel “Cruising,” died Thursday in Manhattan. He was 75.
The cause was complications of a stroke, said his wife, Joanna Simon.
Mr. Walker was an articles editor for The New York Times Magazine from 1963 to 1990. In 1970, he published “Cruising” about the New York homosexual underground. A film version was released in 1980, directed by William Friedkin and starring Al Pacino.
From 1965 to 1967, Mr. Walker edited an annual anthology, “Best Magazine Articles.”
At the time of his death, he was completing a mystery.
