Leonard H. Lamar, 68, of Marco Island, FL, formerly of Palatine, passed away Wednesday, February 18, after a battle with lung cancer, beloved husband of Roberta Lamar and his late first wife Mary Kinquist Lamar; loving father of Elizabeth (Robert Cleary) Lamar, Kelly (Christian) Loeffelholz, Jeanne (Patrick Walsh) Lamar, John (Sharon), David (Maureen), Gregory, Chris (Molly) and Eric Lamar; loving stepfather of Jeff (Beth) Kramer; dear grandfather of 15; fond brother of Jeanne (William) Wissing and Curran (Forrest) Rosser. Len was a graduate of Sioux City Central High School. He received a B.A. in Business from the University of Iowa in 1960 and a M.S.I.C. from Loyola University in 1962. A 38 year employee of Western Electric/Lucent, Len worked in the telelcommunications industry until his retirement in 1995. During his retirement, Len volunteered with Habitat For Humanity, and enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening. He was also a USMC veteran. Memorial visitation at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, Friday, February 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial Mass Saturday, 12:30 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated for Angel Flight Southeast, 8864 Airport Blvd., Leesburg, FL 34788, or Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
