The reality show “The Player” has contestants putting their macks where their mouths are to see who’s the smoothest operator in the nation. Along the way, we’ll see “whether a player can find true love in a bling-bling world of mansions, cool cars and VIP parties.”
Players can apply at www.upn.com or in person at casting calls around the country, including Chicago.

– Thursday at Funky Buddah Lounge from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
– Friday at The Crocodile Lounge from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
– Saturday at The Shark Bar from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
– Open call: Sunday at Hotel 71; women from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; men from 3 to 7 p.m.
