Similar to that little sore that never heals, today’s riders on public transportati6on have no choice but to endure the endless cell-phone conversations that are guaranteed on every trip. The one glorious, satisfying escape was the train going underground. Now we’re losing that brief respite with Chicago Transit Authority “progress” and the installation of technology to maintain cell connections in the subway (Metro, Feb. 16).
