Forget about fast-food dining, at least for one night. Instead, feast your eyes on nine table settings from some of the nation’s top designers when they pull out their finest for “Tablescapes.”

“I want [attendees] to see the new trends for dining,” says exhibit coordinator Kim Oldis of Glen Ellyn. “Each and every display is so different. We’ll be showing the latest in tableware, accessories and cutting-edge floral arrangements that are sure to inspire.”

Designers representing Tiffany & Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, Williams-Sonoma, The Little Traveler in Geneva, the Meeting House in Elmhurst, Find in Highland Park and Benden Williams in Glen Ellyn are among those adding glimmer and glamor to this year’s exhibit of nine tabletop settings.

From suburban dining rooms to urban kitchens, there’s a stunning tabletop idea for everyone. For city dwellers who prefer eating at home under the stars, there’s “Love on a Rooftop,” a romantic dinner setting for two designed by Debra Benden Williams, owner of Benden Williams. “The lighting, sound and landscaping will give the feel of a rooftop environment, and we’re using plants that can withstand the wind and other elements up there.”

Her display includes elegant serving pieces and accessories in pewter, iron, bronze and heavy crystal that lend a beautiful touch outdoors but won’t blow away in the breeze.

“There’s a trend toward doing a lot of entertaining at home. We realize the importance of family gatherings, and people are willing to invest more time and money in pieces of heirloom quality that can be passed down,” Williams says.
