LeBron James’ shining star gets brighter now that the Akron Beacon Journal reported that James is headed for the big screen.

According to Aaron Goodwin, the player’s agent, the Cavs rookie is developing a movie with director Spike Lee.

“We’re still in the planning stages,” Goodwin told the newspaper. “We don’t have a script yet. Spike has been interested for months now, and LeBron is excited about the project.”

Talk about irony: The newspaper says the preliminary plot idea has James playing a college basketball star.

And while it’s not clear if Lee would direct the film or act as its producer, working with NBA talent is hardly new ground for the director. He directed NBA player Ray Allen in “He Got Game” and NBA promotional commercials, including one with James in a crib with kids singing to him.
