Ralph Eugene McPherson, age 88 of Midlothian, died peacefully on March 13, 2004, surrounded by the love of his family. The son of Antoinette and James McPherson. He was born September 27, 1915 in Chicago. Mr. McPherson married Dorothy Seban on August 7, 1936. Their’s was a special union lasting 60 years. Mr. McPherson is preceded in death by his devoted wife Dorothy and his dear brother James. He is survived by three loving daughters, Barbara Meisner, Juanita (James) Cooper and Sondra (Martin) O’Connor; his dear companion Dorothy Pence and brothers Raymond and Edward McPherson. He was a cherished grandfather of six, Jeffrey (Tina) Meisner, Jill (Scott) Amerie, Suzanne (John) Brody, Sandra (Frank) Berndt, J. Brent (Elaine) Rodgers Jr. and Amanda (Todd) Durflinger and a adored greatgrandfather of 10. “Uncle Ralph” was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Visitation Monday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hickey Memorial Chapel, 4201 W. 147th St., Midlothian. Funeral services Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Concordia Cemetery. Mr. McPherson was a lifelong resident of Midlothian, he was active in Civic and community service, having served on the school district 143 school board and the Bremen Heights Civic Club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 716 and UAL Retirees Association. His keen interest in aviation began as a Western Union Messenger in the earlist days of Midway Airport. This grew into Mac’s lifetime career in the airline industry working for both American and United Airlines. Ralph and his wife Dorothy spent many fun-filled vacations traveling the globe by air. Mr. McPherson was an avid nature lover. He spent many memorable hours with his children, grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren, teaching them the joy of fishing, camping and hiking. Mr. McPherson exemplifed the values he instilled in his family. This is his legacy. No words can describe how much he will be missed. 708-385-4478.
