Sydney E. “Syd” Johnson of Woodridge, IL (formerly of Tomahawk and Wausau, Wisconsin) passed away on March 15, 7:48 a.m., at the age of 56; He was a very proud Vietnam Veteran who loved his country; truly loving husband and best friend of his wife Sandy; devoted son of the late Sydney and Lillian Johnson; admired son-in-law of Mayme Goyen; loving father of Joshua Johnson; endeared and beloved father, father-in-law, and friend of Don Jr. and Carolyn Evans, Mark and Wendy Evans and Eric and Mari Evans; adored, admired, loved and cherished grandfather of Jason, Niklas, LeeAnn, Emilia, Nicolette (her “pa-pa”) and Vanessa Evans; loved brother and brother-in-law of Sharon Hiller, Melvin and Lois Johnson, Rose Neu, Mary and Duane Klapper, Allen and Illa Johnson, and Judy and Dan Keith; fond uncle and close friend to many who were lucky enough to have been able to share time with him. He was a man of many talents and hobbies – playing pool, fishing, hunting, camping, computers, home entertainment systems, astronomy, waterskiing, home remodeling, landscaping – a truly special human being. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but certainly not forgotten, as he will continue to live on in the many wonderful, special and unforgettable memories he has created for those whose lives he touched. Visitation Wednesday, March 17, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 Cass Ave, Darien. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 18, at 12 noon.
