Kudos to Staff Sgt. Camilo Mejia for being the first soldier to openly protest and question the war in Iraq (“GI to test morality of war,” Page 1, March 15).

It’s about time some of the soldiers began to question what is going on in this “war against terrorism.”

This war has gone on for too long now, and we are starting to see more and more evidence that it should not have been started in the first place. Too many people are going along with the assumption that it is right because our government says so.

I would like to see the opinions of some of the other 600 soldiers who are AWOL; it would provide a more accurate view of how things are going overseas. The public has watched this war take place without questioning it at all. If you look hard, though, you will see the dirty details of this war, such as civilian deaths, and the race for oil on which our country depends so much.
