The side-by-side stories about Senate candidates Jack Ryan and Barack Obama on March 18 (Page 1) were Exhibits A and B in the case for liberal media bias. Ryan, says the Tribune, continues to be haunted by sealed divorce documents pertaining to the custody of his son, while the biggest problem facing Obama seems to be whether he is as great as the Tribune and his other supporters think he is.
If the so-called controversy regarding custody of a minor child refuses to die, perhaps it is because of Tribune writers who devoted so much space to the topic or because of Tribune lawyers who are suing to open documents.
Furthermore, why the need to refer to Obama as a Harvard graduate while failing to note that Ryan shares the same academic pedigree?
Funny that the day before the hit/fluff pieces appeared about Ryan and Obama respectively, the Tribune’s editorial board proclaimed how great this race will be since it will be about the issues, not personal attacks. Obama doesn’t need to attack Ryan if he has the Tribune doing it for him.
