John Eric Toi, age 51, of Saddle Ridge Road, Newtown, CT, died Saturday, March 20, 2004 in Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT. He was the husband of Paula, nee Erickson, Toi. Mr. Toi was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia on May 27, 1952, a son of Irene, nee Holberg, Toi of Oakville, Ontario, Canada and the late Harri Toi. He grew up in Toronto, Ontario and was a graduate of Michael Power High School, the University of Toronto and was a member of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants. John had a fulfilling professional career which culminated with his promotion to Vice President of the Gen Re Corporation in Stamford, CT, a position he held for seven years. He has lived in Newtown the past 61/2 years. In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his three children, John Michael Toi, Stefan Michael Toi and Ericka Irene Toi, all of Newtown; three sisters, Maret Burdeney of Oakville, Ontario, Juta Coulter of Mississauga, Ontario and Kim Gillespie of Hamilton, Ontario. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 11 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main St., Newtown. Interment will be in Newtown Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
