Like members of his congregation, Rabbi Shmuel Mann is pleased to participate in the centennial celebration of Aurora’s Temple B’nai Israel.
But he also wants to ensure that this west suburban synagogue and local Jewish community continues to grow and prosper.
“It’s a wonderful milestone and it’s a wonderful community,” said Mann, who has served B’nai Israel for the last three years. “Throughout 100 years, we have survived with 100 to 150 families, but with expenses and to do all the things you want to do, [we] have to grow.”
With better outreach and communications, Mann hopes B’nai Israel can add up to 50 more families from within a 20-mile radius of Aurora.
