A man was convicted Monday in the 1975 rape and murder of a college student after prosecutors linked him to DNA evidence from a discarded drinking straw.

Donald Sigsbee, 68, of Madison, N.Y., faces up to life in prison for the death of 19-year-old Regina Marie Reynolds, who disappeared Nov. 6, 1975. Sigsbee became a suspect after police found his business cards near the teen’s body, but there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him.

JACKO MEDIA BAN APPEALED: A media attorney on Monday asked a court to overturn an order preventing access to the grand jury in the Michael Jackson molestation case, hours after the panel apparently convened in a secret location in Santa Barbara County. Theodore Boutrous Jr. said the ban results in “severe infringements on the 1st Amendment rights of the press and public.”
