Wilfred E. Schmaltz, age 80, late of the East Side, beloved husband of Josephine, nee Putzell; loving father of Laura (Thomas) Ratkovic of Arlington Heights, IL; cherished grandfather to his most beloved and devoted grandchildren, Marc Ratkovic of Brooklyn, NY, Paul Ratkovic of Portland, OR and Peter Ratkovic of Arlington Heights, IL; dearest brother of Elaine Garlichs and Charlotte (Rick) Sepanik; fond cousin of Robert (Phyllis) Mantai; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Merchant Marine during WWII. Retired operating engineer Local #150. Wilfred’s wish was to donate his remains to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois.
