Huntley second baseman Dan Lipp tied an Illinois High School Association record with four home runs in the Red Raiders’ 13-2 road victory over Wheeling on Tuesday.

Lipp finished the day 4-for-4 with six RBIs.

Lipp, a three-year senior starter who missed most of the 2003 season with a broken wrist after an all-conference sophomore campaign, is 7-for-14 with five homers, one triple and 10 RBIs in five games this season.

“I’ve seen kids hit two, then the third homer came and I said, `Holy cow!'” second-year Huntley coach Steve Diversey said. “When he hit the fourth one I said, `I’ve never seen that.'”

James Ceglarek of Lane Tech was the last player to hit four home runs in an IHSA game, against Washington in 2002.
