Founded in
: 1996
Style
: post-punk/quirk-rock
Influenced by
: Devo, the Pixies, Robyn Hitchcock and the Talking Heads
Notable
: This group, which formed from the ashes of two local acts (Octopus and Glazeride), has been through nearly a dozen personnel changes over the years. In fact, vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Charles Jamison is the only original member still rocking with LSR.
But despite the constant stream of new players, the Baltimore-based band has managed to produce a number of full-length recordings. Its latest, Intermission, was released earlier this month on amBiguous CITY! Records.
Quotable
: Jamison on enduring a Spinal Tap-esque revolving door of musicians: “Even though it was disruptive, it never was painful. And the people coming and going kept things fresh; it kept my interest in the band. When someone would leave … I would just start throwing out all this new material-and that would get everyone excited again.”
