I opposed intervention in Iraq from the beginning. I am not a peacenik or a buddy of Saddam Hussein. Still nobody seemed to understand that Osama bin Laden and Hussein were symptoms of trouble rather than the cause of it. Strangely enough I also oppose a policy of cut and run. There’s a sickening feeling that we would come to regret such a decision in our lifetime. We are stuck in Iraq. We are, quite frankly, responsible for its development.

Please don’t confuse my support for American troops as support for the president. George Bush should be sacked. He is simply the wrong man for the job. He is reckless and prone to panic. He polarizes people at home and abroad.

We need our allies in Iraq. It demands a rejection of unilateral action. It demands an understanding that our allies won’t go where we take them. It demands a new president. We must give somebody else a chance.
