We support stem-cell research, which shows great promise for the treatment of juvenile diabetes. We must not confuse right-to-life issues with stem-cell research, for the two are completely unconnected. Stem-cell research has nothing to do with abortion. We hope that the Illinois legislature will pass HB3589, and thus not condemn countless children, like our 4-year old granddaughter in Libertyville, to a lifetime of needles and injections, and the steady deterioration of their health (“States are wrestling with stem-cell issues,” Page 1, April 6).
