The praise of Joseph E. Bukovsky Jr. for rats as pets (Voice of the people, May 8) is warranted. His passing jab at hamsters is not.
I have successfully housetrained hamsters for years. Hamsters are, as are rats, intelligent and personable animals, and with care and patience are quite trainable.
